Miaka is a junior high school student, in ninth grade. She lives with her mother and bro; her parents are divorced. She and Yui have been best friends since kidergarten. Although a bit careless and childish sometimes, Miaka is in fact, cheerful, light-hearted, curious, very friendly, and never suspicious. She is single-minded and sometimes a little whiny. She has great insight about others. She is the young priestess of Suzaku. *Spoiler* Seems like all the guys want her some way or another. Probably because of her personality, In the book all the women seem to be somewhat beautiful and a little full of themselves. Miaka is infact a girl thats not full of herself and cares about others striving for everything she has to achieve her goal and no matter what, she will always try her best. I think that is why Tamahome, Hotohori, Nuriko, Tasuki, and Amiboshi love her. Even Nakago and Tomo want her but for different reasons then the others.

Hotohori is the young, handsome Emperor of Konan. He’s brave, strong, loyal and willing to give his life for the Priestess of Suzaku, Miaka. In fact, he is deeply in love with her, too. He trusts his instincts and believes that Miaka is the "one" that he has been waiting for all his life. *Spoiler* But he respects her decision and lets her stay with Tamahome whom she really loves. In the end, he marries a beautiful lady who looks just exactly like Nuriko, named Hoki.

He wears a mask the whole time to hide the scar on his face he obtained years ago in an accident where he lost his best friend.

Tasuki is a bandit leader from the mountians who left his position to join Miaka and the rest of the Suzaku gang. Just like the others, Tasuki's very dedicated, a good chief too. He always gets into these cute, mini-fights with Tamahome. Facts about him: He doesn't know how to swim and he's scared of water! He claims that he doesn’t like girls either, that starts to change in the OAV series.

Mitsukake guy is very simple, quiet and a sweet man who treats the weak with deep concern.. He is mysterious and rather calm. But other than that, Mitsukake has got these really cool healing powers and owns a cute, adorable cat named Tama. Before he joined the susaku team he lived like a poor guy with only enough food to feed his cat. *Spoiler* He still loves Shao-Huan, a former lover, and the only person he couldn't save from dying of a dreadful desiease.

Tama-neko is Mitsukake's cute, little cat. Hes a really smart cat and is really helpful at times when the others need help for example when Chichiri, Miaka and Tasuki escape from Kutou (the evil Tamahome part)and when he shows Miaka the way out of her room because Hotohori locked her in. He also has a power of sensing when something bad is going to happen.

Chiriko is the youngest among the Suzaku Seven. He arrives just in time before Amiboshi tries to kills the entire Suzaku gang. Chiriko might appear to be a kid but he's incredibly intelligent, because he can only exercise his power while his mark is showing, he tends to look up to strong men as role models.

Yui is the Priestess of Seiryu. Similarly, she needs to gather the 7 Seiryuu Seishis to obtain 3 wishes. She’s Miaka's best friend since they were very young. She's smart, serious, and determined. However, she and Miaka became bitter enemies because of a simple misunderstanding. She happens to be in love with the same man Miaka loves (Tamahome) Thus, she became depraved and allied with Nakago. Yui hated Miaka throughout the series but underneath that anger, we all know that she still loves her.

He loves his brother and Miaka. *Spoiler* He is known as Chiriko when you first see him in the series but then you realize that he is from the Seiryu Seven. When everyone found out he fell in the river and everyone thought he was dead but then later on in the series Miaka finds him at a city and he is known as Kaika. He wishes he was one of the Susaku Seven because they are more loving.

He loves his brother so much that he would kill for him. Once he makes up his mind, he is both impetuous and implacable. He loves Yui romanticly more then anyone else. I wish they would go together. If your a Yui and Suboshi fan you should deffinatly watch the 1st OAV series.

Ashitare is half wearwolf and I feel sorry for him cause no one really cares about him and then hes treated badly just because he follows Nakago's orders, but then again, anyone who follows Nakagos orders doesn't turn out to be happy if you saw the whole series you would know why.

Who cares about this guy? Ok I guess you do if your reading this. Personally I don't really like Miboshi he is the only character I just had no care of. So Nakago was a horrible guy but he had meaning so did Ashitare. But this evil sorcere, living by moving from one body to another, who cares. Anyways If you liked Miboshi give me a reason why cause I can't find any reason.
